Help us love beyond our ideals

Rev. David Hulse introduced Unity of Charlotte to a direct translation of The Lord's Prayer from the
Aramaic to English.




 First we'll look at the King James Version:
1-Our father which art in heaven
2-Hallowed b they name
3-The  kingdom come
4-They will be done
5-On earth as it is in heaven
6-Give us this day our daily bread
7-And forgive us our debts
 8-As we forgive our debtors
9-And lead us not into temptation
10-But deliver us from evil
11-For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory
12-Forever and ever
13-Amen

Second, let's look at this translation from the Aramaic to English

Prayer of the Cosmos (Translation)

1-O Birther! Father-Mother of the Cosmos
2-Focus your light within us-make it useful
3-Create your reign of unity now
4-through our fiery hearts and willing hands
5-Help us love beyond our ideals and  sprout acts of compassion for all creatures
6-Animate the earth within us: we then feel the Wisdom underneath supporting all
7-Untangle the knots within
8-so that we can mend our hearts simple ties to each other
9-Don't let surface things delude us
10-But free us from what holds us back from our true purpose
11-One of you, the astonishing fire
12-Returning light and sound to the cosmo.
13-Amen

Today is a brand new day

Today is a brand new day. 

A fresh start.

Replace any negativity with positivity. 

Think happy thoughts. 

Exercise. 

Drink lots of water. 

Fill your body with fuel.

Healthy is happy.

Inspire yourself.

Create. Laugh. Play. Love. Learn.

Give someone a compliment.

 Make a new friend. 

Do a random act of kindness.

 It creates good karma. 

Take chances and finally start living life to its fullest. 

 But no matter what's thrown at you today, smile and remember, tomorrow's always a fresh new start."

God's Good Graces

I go through each day by remembering my daily word
I repeat my affirmations and hum a few chord
I thank Spirit for the sunshine and the friendly smiles
I share with family the thing I put in my growing spiritual files.

I tell God  of the goodness others have shown to me
I ask God to look after them and let them see
That where ever we are, God is always there
Just like the sun that shines bright and clear

To all my family and friends who are here today,
Just wanted to say that I love you every day
You fill my heart with love and laughter
Without that, nothing else really matters
You may not know it but many things
you have helped me through
Family, friends, and this church community
I am glad I have you
With that in mind, let's join hand in hand
And together let's make a stand

Let us start today and form a bond of love
Knowing that the presence of God is always around, beside and above
Please do not let little things get in the way,
Let us show love to each other as we may not have another day
To tell that person "I love you", which we may regret in some way.

I thank God for this day with prosperity around
And as the night sneaks in without a sound
I feel His presence and know I am not alone
For His forgiving love flows in me like a river
I know because I felt it during this morning's prayer

I lit a candle for you

"I lit a candle for you. I wanted you to feel its warmth, see its glow, and love its rhythm. I wanted you to have it for those moments when it's hard to see, when dreams fade, and when the night is too dark. I wanted you to have it because everyone needs a candle that has been lit with kindness and compassion. Everyone needs to see the flame of love and light. Everyone needs this more than they need a lot of the things they think the need.
Do everything with love. Love by itself does nothing, love is a fire in the soul. It is fuel for the living. Love is the unseen master that bathes a kiss and consummates a smile, it is the sparkle in your eyes and the rhythm of  your heart. Every thought is a tool designed for serving love. Every fiber of your body lives to serve love. Love's fire thrives with every loving action. Do not wait for love to build a bridge, end a war, or feed a hungry child, Your course of action bathed in love, can do all of this and more. If you think you are here to serve another master, you are mistaken. Don't allow your heart and eyes to close themselves to love. Love's fire has not gone out; it will always burn. Open your eyes and trust your heart. You are love's beloved servant."

If you look to others....

I am famous for being the quintessential pack-rat.  I never know what I will find when I start clearing out my desk.

The other day, I came across this quote from Lao Tzu, a 6^th Century B.C. philosopher.  

“If you look to others for fulfillment, you will never truly be fulfilled.  If your happiness depends on money, you will never be happy with yourself.  Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are.   When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.”

The writings of Lao Tzu are attributed to Taoism, but that quote sounds a lot like a lesson in prosperity to me.

After all, it is when we look within that we find peace and happiness.

Spirit dwells within. 

Power dwells within.

Love dwells within.

Forgiveness dwells within.

 These things are true prosperity.  Lao Tzu is absolutely correct when he says, “When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.”  . . . and then, with great gratitude remember to say, “thank you” to the Universe.

Just a thought.

Do I accept an overflowing cup?

...the biggest question in life is,
How much good can you accept?

 
Good is flowing to you every day.
  
How much of it you experience depends on how much of it you can accept.

And how much of it you can accept depends
upon how 'worthy' you believe that you are.

God, of course, knows the answer to this.
You are worthy of all the good in the Universe.

How about you?

God KNOWS the way

A King, who did not believe in the goodness of God, had a slave who, in all circumstances would say, "My king, do not be discouraged, because everything God does is perfect, no mistakes."

One day, they went hunting. Along the way, a wild animal attacked the king. His slave managed to kill the animal. However, he could not prevent his majesty from losing a finger.

Furious and not showing any gratitude for being saved, the King said, "If God was good, I would not have been attacked and lost my finger."

The slave replied, "My King, despite all these things, I can only say to you that God is good, and he knows the why to all things. What God does is perfect. He is never wrong!"

Outraged by the response, the King ordered the slave to be imprisoned.

Later, while on another hunt, he was captured by savages who believed in human sacrifices. While on the altar, ready to be sacrifice, the savages found that the victim had a missing finger. Not suitable for human sacrifice, he was released. According to them, the King was not completely whole to be offered to the gods.

Upon his return to the palace, the King immediately authorized the release of his slave. When facing the slave, the King said in an affectionate tone, "My dear slave, God was really good to me for I was almost killed by the wild men. Because of the lack of a single finger, I was let go. However, I have a question. If God is so good, why did he allow me to put you in jail?"

The slave smiled and said, "My King, if I had gone with you in this hunt, I would have been sacrificed for you, because I have no missing finger. God is perfect."
